It doesn’t have to be St. Patrick’s Day to enjoy this dish. Cooked cabbage, onions, and beef offer many needed nutrients to heal the gut lining, nourish your soul, and improve your mood.
1 3lbs grass fed beef brisket
1 head green cabbage
1 bunch turnips
1 onion
2 large potatoes: yellow or white
1/4 cup pickling spices such as: cloves, allspice berries, dill seed, or mustard seed
fresh filtered water
If the brisket needs to be “corned” add 2 cups celery juice, 1 cup brine from pickles, sour kraut or whey (the liquid from your yogurt) and enough water to cover the beef.
Add 1/4 cup pickling spices, 1/2 cup sea salt and refrigerate for up to 7 days.
When you’re ready wash the brisket or corned beef and add it to the slow cooker
Add 1 onion chopped, 1 bunch of turnips peeled and chopped, 1 green cabbage chopped, and 2 potatoes chopped
Cover the contents with fresh filtered water and add 1/4 cup pickling spices
Cook on low for 6-8 hours
Add sea salt to taste if not included in the spice mix
